An ISO-compliant microchip is required for all pets. It must be implanted before any vaccinations are administered. The microchip number must appear on the health certificate, vaccination records, and RNATT laboratory report.

Required for all pets. The vaccination must have been given at least 30 days before the RNATT blood draw and must be current on arrival in Qatar. Vaccination records must include the vaccine name, manufacturer, batch number, date of administration, and clinic stamp.

Required for all dogs and cats, regardless of origin country. The blood sample must be drawn at least 30 days after the rabies vaccination and more than 90 days before the expected travel date — the pet cannot travel until 90 days have passed from the date of blood collection. The test must be performed at an accredited laboratory, with a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml. The RNATT result remains valid for 12 months from the sampling date, provided the rabies vaccination is kept current.

Dogs must be vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and leptospirosis (DHPPL or equivalent), in addition to rabies. All vaccinations must have been given at least 30 days and no more than 12 months before travel.

Cats must be vaccinated against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia (PCH / FVRCP or equivalent), in addition to rabies. Feline leukaemia (FELV) vaccination is strongly recommended. All vaccinations must have been given at least 30 days and no more than 12 months before travel.

Flea treatment, tick treatment, and deworming are required and must be administered within the validity period of the health certificate — that is, within 14 days before departure. All treatments must be recorded on the health certificate with product name, date of administration, and clinic stamp.

A veterinary health certificate must be completed by the veterinarian within 14 days of departure. The certificate must be government-endorsed, issued in English, and accompanied by all original vaccination documentation and the RNATT laboratory report. Advance notice must be given to veterinary officials at Hamad International Airport so they are available to inspect the pet and documentation on arrival.

The health certificate must be endorsed by the official government veterinary authority of the origin country before departure. The certificate must be in English and accompanied by original vaccination records.

An import permit from Qatar's Department of Animal Resources is required for every import and must be in place before the pet arrives. The permit is valid for approximately 30 days. Because the permit cannot be applied for from outside Qatar, the importer must have a representative or certified agent based in Qatar to submit the application on their behalf. The importer must hold a valid Qatar ID (QID) and a local mobile phone number linked to the Metrash app. A customs broker is required for all air cargo shipments.

The following breeds are restricted from entering Qatar: American Staffordshire Terrier, Boerboel, Boston Terrier, Boxer, Bull Terrier, Bulldog, Chinese Shar-Pei, Doberman, Great Dane, Japanese Akita, Neapolitan Mastiff, Afghan Hound, Rottweiler, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Special dispensation may be granted for proven family pets on a case-by-case basis. Large or dangerous breeds may also require additional permission from the Ministry of Interior.
