How do I choose the right travel crate size?+
The crate must allow your pet to stand, turn around, and lie down with ease — with at least 8–10 cm of headroom. Measure height and length, then size up if in doubt.
Are plastic clip crates accepted by airlines?+
No. Crates must be secured with metal nuts and bolts — plastic clips are rejected at check-in. This is a hard IATA requirement.
What should I put inside my pet's crate?+
Two water/food bowls, absorbent bedding, dry food in a sealed bag attached outside, and a familiar-scented item. No toys, bones, or leashes inside.

Can my pet travel in the cabin?+
Small pets under ~8 kg may be allowed in-cabin on some airlines. Large dogs must travel as cargo. Policies vary — confirm with your airline when booking.
Is the cargo hold safe for pets?+
Yes — the pet compartment is separate from luggage, pressurised, ventilated, and temperature controlled. It is not the same as the standard baggage hold.
What temperature restrictions apply?+
Most airlines refuse transport above 29°C for regular pets. Snub-nosed breeds face stricter limits (above 23°C). Restrictions apply to ground handling, not the aircraft.
📋Before You Go
Should I feed my pet before the flight?+
A light meal is recommended. For snub-nosed breeds, avoid feeding 4–6 hours before departure. Water beforehand is fine.
What should I do the day before?+
Clip nails, prepare a familiar-scented item, pack dry food in a sealed bag, and remove collar and ID tags to prevent injury during transport.
Should I remove my pet's collar?+
Yes. Collars can catch on the crate door and cause injury. Your pet is identified via microchip and the documentation attached to the crate.
🐶Snub-Nosed Pets
What is a brachycephalic pet?+
Breeds with short, flat faces and compressed airways. They face higher breathing risks during travel, especially in heat or stress. Many airlines restrict or ban them.
Can snub-nosed dogs fly in summer?+
Most airlines restrict them above 23°C. The safest travel window is November–March. Some airlines (Emirates, Lufthansa, Turkish) accept them under specific conditions.
What precautions should I take?+
Full vet check before travel, oversized crate for airflow, travel in cooler seasons and times, no food 4–6 hours before, and never use sedatives.
